Key Responsibilities:

  • Handles claims in compliance with company quality standards, including some which may involve litigation. These claims may include first and third-party claims of moderate severity and complexity/exposure level.

  • Manages the work and performance of vendors to successfully resolve claims.

  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with insureds to gather and share pertinent information.

  • Provides timely and appropriate evaluation of claims to identify and manage reserves according to company standards.

  • Maintains current knowledge of all insurance lines, court decisions which may impact the claim function, current guidelines in the claim function and policy changes and modifications. This may require attending various seminars and training sessions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Typical Skills and Experiences:


Education: Undergraduate degree preferred. Additional education in a particular line of business may be required by the hiring business unit. Insurance coursework preferred.


License/Certification/Designation: Associates must acquire the required Federal and/or state licenses/registrations within the time period designated by the business unit. Additional licenses/registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to acquire required licenses/registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position.


Experience: Two to three years property claims handling experience or comparable job related experience or education preferred. Commercial claims property experience preferred. Prior multi-jurisdictional, E&S or other specialty lines experience preferred. Familiarity with various

  • Responsible for moderate to serious complexity commercial property damage claims with little to no direction and oversight. Makes decisions within delegated authorization; recommends settlement values in the disposition of moderate and sometimes serious and complex claims. Adheres to high standards of professional conduct while providing delivery of superior claims service.

  • Determines proper policy coverages and applies best claims practices to conclude assigned cases per company guidelines.

  • Opens closes and adjusts reserves in accordance with company practices designed to ensure reserve adequacy. Recommends Special Reserves where necessary according to Corporate Reserving Guidelines. Adheres to file conferencing notification and authority procedures.

Ideal candidates will have 18 months or more of claims experience (highly preferred).
