Trainee: Provide the opportunity for motivated individuals to obtain industry experience working in a sales and customer support role while preparing and training to become a Licensed Insurance Sales Agent.   • Assist customers with general questions, receive customer payments, issue receipts,cross-selling and verify balance/daily reports of receipts for cash drawers

  • Complete marketing and sales-related activities which further the Direct Auto brand in the local market (outbound marketing calls, car dealerships visits, local events, distribution of flyers, etc.)

Agent:

  • Meet and exceed sale's goals through new product sales, cross selling, and retention of current customers

  • Implement marketing programs and initiatives which further the Direct Auto brand in the local market (car dealerships, local events, etc.)

  • Develop and manage customer relationships and serve as a resource to customers and potential customers on all Direct Auto products and services

Primary Purpose:

Examines claims data, investigates the facts of loss, determines coverage and liability, and adjusts claims within the limit of authority. Claims involved frequently require analysis and may require research to resolve coverage and/or damage issues. There is a periodic review of ongoing activities and the results of work. There is more focused supervision on complex files (The CRII will handle complex files on a regular basis).

  • Establish an investigative plan; initiate investigation by gathering facts and evidence with all interested parties; complete appropriate reports; take recorded statements when necessary, and review loss reserves and adjust or open hidden exposures as necessary

  • Evaluate and adjust claims within the limit of authority

  • Evaluate settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices; make decisions on the best option

  • Make appropriate contacts to discuss a settlement; extend an offer to the appropriate party; document all file activity and payment/settlement information in file notes clearly outlining the basis for settlement

  • Determine subrogation or fraud potential and refer to Unit when potential exists or handles to conclusion

  • If handling PIP may participate in investigations of medical providers and attend EUOs

  • May work with attorneys in resolving lawsuits

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the repair and replacement of property damages, including mechanical components of a vehicle, homeowner damages, and other potential exposures

  • For claims involving injuries, has a solid understanding of how to review, evaluate, and negotiate injury claims

  • Demonstrate ability to handle litigation in accordance with company guidelines, and be able to recognize legal issues and will utilize ADR when appropriate

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving complex injury claims in multiple jurisdictions. The focus will be on the accurate evaluation and timely settlement of both non-litigated and litigated exposures. Must provide high levels of internal and external customer service while also taking into consideration the best interest of National General Insurance Company and its subsidiary companies.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle claim files and thoroughly document all activities using the claims system; maintain appropriate diaries and status notes using the claim system

  • Prepare Large Loss Reports (LLR) and elevate the claim exposures above adjuster authority, including appropriate reserve modification and settlement recommendations

  • Manage the company’s indemnification and ALAE exposure by recognizing trends and proactively managing defense counsel including selection of appropriate experts at the appropriate time

  • Manage and partner with Panel Counsel and House Counsel to provide an appropriate defense in accordance with the Claims Handling Guidelines and Litigation Management Guidelines; assist with keeping counsel accountable to company guidelines and appropriate defense of all insureds

  • Handle assigned claims and other judgment matters according to company guidelines, good faith file handling requirements, and state legal and regulatory requirements in multiple jurisdictions

  • Complete all aspects of claim handling including complex coverage analysis, timely completion of liability investigations and accurate damages evaluations of complex bodily injury claims

  • Establish strategic negotiating positions when settling claims and/or lawsuits with claimants or attorneys

  • Set an example of claims handling excellence for the broader claims organization through accurate, timely, proactive, well-documented, creative defense and resolution of Large Loss Lite Claims as defined in the Claims Handling Guidelines

  • Seek to become a subject matter expert in assigned venues through knowledge of state statutes, case law, defense and plaintiff’s counsels, etc
