TYPICAL ASSIGNMENTS
In a developing and learning capacity, the Trainee will perform the following typical assignments:
• Researches inquiries by accessing the claims processing system and other informational sources
• Responds to customer/group and provider questions through telephone contact and/or written communication (such as mail) using proper, etiquette, grammar, punctuation, etc.
• Maintains related departmental records and files
• Operates office equipment which may include a personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, etc.
• Makes corrections to claims and eligibility
• Enters new claims, eligibility and subscriber information into the mainframe
• Reviews subscriber’s coverage to determine type and level of benefits
Bidding Requirements: • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• One year of customer service experience in a business environment that requires the use of a computer program to assist the customer, preferably in a call center, and/or dental experience
• Successful completion of the customer service simulation test (minimum score of 62 out of a possible 100) (assessment waived if candidate previously passed the test while at Delta Dental or if previously held Customer Service Trainee, Customer Service Advisor or Customer Service Associate position)
• Employees bidding the first shift must have the ability to begin work 8:25 a.m. or work until 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
• Employees bidding the second shift must have the ability to begin work at 11:00 a.m. or work until 12:00 Midnight, Monday through Friday.
What we look for:
A DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
The active and unencumbered license in good standing with the Dental Licensing Board of California.
A minimum of 5 years of private dentistry practice experience.
Strong organizational/time management skills and multi-tasking abilities.
Detail-oriented with analytic and problem-solving abilities.
Customer service, conflict management and dispute resolution skills.
Knowledge of health care industry issues preferred.
Knowledge of Delta Dental products, policies, claims, eligibility and underwriting guidelines.

Requirements
The position requires an associate’s degree and two years of experience responding to customer inquiries in a call center environment. Experience in workforce planning is preferred. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. Position requires advanced knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and visual presentation applications; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; the ability to work independently and as part of a team; and the ability to identify and solve problems using independent judgment.
Job Summary: To lead the analysis and administration of the daily operational needs of the Customer Service contact center in order to ensure that departmental goals and objectives are met.
Primary Job Responsibilities
1. Analyzes intraday departmental workloads, including incoming calls and document queues, in order to ensure appropriate coverage levels.
2. Monitors real-time adherence to schedule and department efficiency.
3. Recommends necessary changes to department management based on real time workload analysis.
4. Approves exception activities and updates schedules to reflect necessary changes.
5. Assists in the review of staffing levels, capacity, and forecasting.
6. Assists in short and long-term department workforce planning.
7. Analyzes and reports on department statistics and other data on a daily and monthly basis (i.e., service levels, answer rate, ASA, etc.) and creates plans for addressing metrics that are not within expected standards.

Successful completion of a data entry test sponsored by Human Resources within the past 12 months / 7,000 keystrokes per hour with 95% accuracy (test waived if candidate currently holds or has previously held a CRT Operator position)
Successful completion of a typing test administered by Human Resources within the past 12 months with a typing speed of 40 correct words per minute (minimum of 90% accuracy) (test waived if candidate currently holds a position that requires at least 40 correct words per minute.)
One-year work experience in an office environment (external candidates only)

Job Summary: Performs underwriting functions to support Enterprise goals and objectives including new business and an assigned book of business on the least complex cases. Primary Job Responsibilities 1. Develops an understanding of dental terminology, dental benefits, risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, contract language, and the underwriting process and procedures. 2. Evaluate risk and develops, review and approve rates consistent with approved rating formulas and methodologies. 3. Develops and approves renewal rates and contracts for assigned books of business. 4. Determines and defines eligibility and approves new business rates, proposals and contracts.

Description
This is a hybrid position, both in-office and remote.
Requirements
Currently enrolled second, third or fourth-year student pursuing a degree in public health, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field. Graphic design experience a plus.
The position requires proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The candidate must be highly motivated, able to problem solve and work independently. This position reports to the manager of the Delta Dental Foundation and will work closely with the DDF program officer and communications team.
We are looking for an intern at the Delta Dental Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Delta Dental of Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and North Carolina, who has excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills. Tasks may include:
Preparing grant application templates for staff and board book
Processing quarterly in-kind requests, mini-grants and sponsorship requests
Assisting with the development of promotional materials and social media content
Developing relationships with internal departments and external entities, including community organizations and nonprofits
Learning to utilize grant management software programs with training and guidance
Updating and maintaining websites
Supporting philanthropy-related functions
Requesting payment vouchers
Maintaining department records
Performing other related assigned duties as necessary
