Our People Team takes care of our most important asset, our employees. We’re looking for a Sr. Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our growing team. You will independently own payroll processing for Calm and assist across benefits administration and compliance. You will have the opportunity to partner cross-functionally to ensure our payroll and benefits processes are robust and scalable to support Calm's future growth.

Outcomes

  • Responsible for Calm’s day-to-day and multi-state payroll transactions processing in our payroll system

  • Ensure each pay cycle and month-end closes are processed accurately and on-time

  • Partner effectively with the People team, and other cross-functional teams such as Operations and Finance, to record and process any needed changes to each pay cycle

  • Assist with employee inquiries concerning their pay, W-2s, benefits, etc.

  • The process associated payroll taxes and payment of employee benefits, including all payroll and benefits reconciliations

  • Provide knowledge and skills to remain compliant as we grow and scale our business throughout the U.S. and globally

  • Help develop scalable processes, policies, and compliance across our payroll, timekeeping, and benefit administration practices

  • Maintain strict confidentiality over employee data and information, ensuring full compliance with data protection laws

  • Partner cross-functionally to optimize and/or automate our processes within our tech, including being a key player in our future HR/payroll system implementation, configuration, and maintenance

  • Review and audit employee 401(k) contributions as well as make contribution deposits to 3rd party 401(k) administrators in a timely manner

  • Ensure timely and accurate W-2 preparations at end of the year

Competencies

  • At least 5 years of payroll processing experience

  • A demonstrated ability to achieve goals in ambiguity, fast-paced environment in a flexible manner

  • Prior experience processing multi-state payroll

  • Results-oriented individual who operates with the business outcomes in mind while ensuring the best employee experience and drives continuous improvement

  • Exceptional organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information

  • Expertise in Google Sheets and Microsoft Excel

  • Experience with variable compensation

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience using Zenefits, Workday or ADP a plus

  • Experience in equity transitions (options, RSUs, IPO)
