How You Will Contribute:

  • Support Assistant Controllers within an industry team with pre-close reviews and review of financial reporting packages for completeness and accuracy. Reviews and clears comments with the Accounting Specialist prior to the Assistant Controller review.

  • Oversee the internal quality assurance program, including review of Team Work Task Management, call notes, closing checklist, CPMS and other required documentation in conjunction with the Staff Success Ambassador

  • Drives the internal quality assurance for multiple clients over the closing process, including proper training, task management, closing checklists, required documentation, scheduling and organization

  • Responsible for effective staff management, including training and development, workflow and performance management.

  • Prepares performance feedback for staff; communicates constructive, real-time feedback in a professional & tactful manner. Keep management informed of feedback provided in a timely manner.

  • Serves as a key resource for internal accounting policies and procedures; assist in keeping ADC intranet system complete and accurate

  • Monitors and analyze internal client budgets to identify variances and make recommendations for efficiencies

  • Conduct time reviews and prepare agreement addendums for existing clients with the support of the Proposal Team

  • Conduct post turnover checklist review and 30-day post turnover check-ins with first clients for new staff

  • May assist the Assistant Controllers and Accounting Managers with unique situations that require additional support when needed

  • Conduct efficiency reviews on existing clients in conjunction with the Technology Integration Specialist

  • Evaluate lease contracts to determine the proper classification of the lease on the balance sheet, including whether to capitalize and short-term/long-term classification

  • Reviews and approves various tax forms and payments such as but not limited to sales & use tax, property tax returns, and client-specific business tax and franchise tax filings

  • Coordinates with the client’s tax advisors on issues and assist with tax return reconciliations

  • Assists controller in completing a basic income tax return reconciliation, including recording journal entries to adjust the equity roll forward

  • Serves as an additional resource in resolving complex 1099, W-2, and fringe benefit matters

  • Assists in developing and leading accounting training initiatives; may need assistance from Assistant Controller at times

  • Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and provide insights to Controller on operational efficiencies, financial policies, and business strategy

  • Assists in implementing third-party applications, including consideration of any accounting requirements

  • Leads the recurring group calls for Accounting Specialists and Senior Accounting Specialists

  • Assists external auditors and controllers in providing required documentation for the client’s annual audit

  • Provides turnover assistance to Accounting Specialists

  • Some travel for training and team meetings may be required

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Experience with third-party applications is preferred, such as: Bill.com, TPI, Tallie, Team Work,the and budgeting & forecasting applications. If not proficient must have willingness to put in time to learn.

  • Ongoing desire to expand knowledge of new technology and applications

The Assistant Controller should exhibit excellent written and verbal communication while working closely with all levels of management, employees, clients, external auditors, and tax advisors. To be successful in this role, the individual must be quality and client-focused, results and detailed oriented, a team player, intuitive, organized, analytical, and dependable. It is essential to be proficient in Excel, various financial systems, and data query tools.

This is an exempt position.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Directs the closing process for variety of clients, ensuring all closings are scheduled and financial reports are delivered in a timely manner

  • Reviews pre-closes and provides final approval for closings

  • Responsible for management of staff within a specified team, including but not limited to approving timesheets, preparing/conducting reviews, and PIPs.

  • Prepares and delivers performance feedback for all direct reports; communicates constructive, real-time feedback to staff in a professional manner.

  • Prepares agenda for client meetings, including talking points, account analysis, Out of Scope Services, recommendations for efficiencies, and pending items

  • Monitor and analyze internal client budgets (BvA): investigate areas of improvement and recommend solutions

  • Prepares and analyzes financial models using sensitivity analysis and other analytical techniques, review variance analysis and account reconciliations, and identify significant items requiring the attention of the controller

  • Evaluate financial analysis, including KPI’s and other client-specific metrics established by management, in preparation for discussion with controllers

  • Research and develop industry-specific KPIs; prepare commentary related to those KPIs

  • Coordinate and maintain client’s custom dashboards, budgets, and reports in Jirav.

  • Assists the Supervisor with tax return discrepancies

  • Coordinates with the client’s tax advisors on issues

  • Reviews and interprets legal documents such as sales contracts, leases, bank covenants and debt agreements, and extract the necessary data to record pertinent transactions

  • Provides turnover assistance to Controller

  • Attends Controller Group Meetings

  • Assists and coach Accounting Supervisor, as needed

  • Answers and researches technical accounting issues and summarize possible conclusions; uses professional judgment to identify when a controller may be needed for more complex issues

  • Drives the PPP process (tools, resources, education, training, etc.)

  • Some travel for training and team meetings may be required

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

The ideal candidate will be a strong individual contributor while providing exceptional outsourced controllership and advisory services as well as strategic direction to various clients. This individual is responsible for budgets, forecasts, analytics, and developing KPIs while providing insight and making recommendations to clients. While the pace of the work is faster than average, the timeliness and quality of results is never compromised. The nature of the work requires quick decision-making, based on knowledge of pertinent information and an intention to reduce risk factors as much as are possible. An active, positive response to a variety of challenges and time pressures is also required. The Controller must be self-motivated and be able to provide superior and responsive professional services for clients and staff in a virtual environment to create an unparalleled experience for all. This position is an integral part of the leadership team and reports directly to the Lead Controller. How You Will Contribute:

  • Develop policies and procedures as they relate to client service

  • Develop the role of the Controller function to our client base

  • Ongoing phone consultations with client base

  • Enhance reporting and analysis to our client base

  • Support and train our accounting staff in the performance of their daily responsibilities

  • Month-end closing and issuance of financial reports to all clients every month
